Am I being paid enough? Should I stay?

Posted in Nanny Salary Rates 2 months ago, 3 replies

I am a live-in nanny in Boston, MA for two children, 12 and 10 yrs old. boys. I work 55 hours a week, caring for the children; meals, driving them to school, homework, laundry, and cleaning up their rooms everyday. I pay for my own gas and car insurance. I am making $500.00 a week and wondering if this is sufficient.. when you break it down I make about $9.25 an hour.. The kids are a handful and a half may I say.. Somedays they stress me out soo much that I want to just cry and quit.. Soon they will be out of school and I am assumming the parents will want me to care for the boys all day.. Should I do it? How much should I be asking for? That would be almost 75 hours a week! Opinions please!

THE KIDS ARE OLD ENOUGH TO CLEAN THEIR OWN ROOMS. I HAVE BEEN CLEANING MY OWN ROOM SINCE I WA LIKE 4 THEY CAN DO THAT. IN FORCE PUNISHMENT WHEN NEEDED. TAKE THINGS WAY FO PUNISHMENT.

sounds like ur stressed out.. I know the feeling I take care of two 2 year olds.... ahhhh!!! maybe u should look around for another position one that pays better their are tons of families in Boston that will pay over 20 an hour I know because I am from MA. But then you will have to figure out a new living arrangment.... its prob worth it though. good Luck!
