What should a hard working nanny get paid?

Posted in Nanny Salary Rates 3 months ago, 5 replies

I am a live in nanny for 2 children of the ages 2 and 4. These kids are a handful and thats exactly why the parents hired me. I have to do lots of laundry every week, put away all of there stuff several times a day and clean the kitchen every day (because they can make a mess!). I am working nearly 50 hours a week and get paid a total of $700 per month plus room and board. Is that a good salary or should I start looking elsewhere?

YES START LOOKING FOR A JOB. YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK IN HOSPITALS,DOCTORS ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A NANNY WHEN THEY HAVE EVENTS.

I agree with Jackie. I live in the same state as you and you are being underpaid for all the work you are doing. I don't really know what the cost of rent is in Columbia but it seems like you are being paid too little for a nanny sitter in this area.

YEAH GET ANOTHER JOB. NANNYS SHOULD BE PAID NO LESS THAN 300 A WEEK AND THAT IS THE MINNIMUM A WEEK A NANNY SHOULD BE PAID.

A live in nanny should be getting paid between $400 and $800 dollars a week with benefits. I'd look elsewhere..

Look for another job. I am currently a live out nanny but I have been a live-in nanny with 3 families. A live-in should be making at least $15 an hour w/ benefits! You are way underpaid and you are being taken advantage of! I always go through a nanny agency to find families. It is free for the nannies. The agency screens the families and usually helps in the contract negotiation. They are also there for support in case something like this happens.
